continually work on our teaching skills and experiment with
different teaching techniques to make sure you get the
skills and information you need.
We have a wide range of
experienced instructors. Our instructors are seasoned snow
experts. From the director of Mt. Rose ski patrol to
patrollers with over 25 years of experience, you will be
taught by the best.
Slide Snow School courses are taught
by highly experienced professionals. For years, they have
been making difficult decisions regarding snow stability and
safety on challenging terrain.
Tim has taught avalanche education, mountaineering, glacial travel, and outdoor skills since 1992. He took his first avalanche course from Dr. Mel Marcus, PHD – Snow Science and Meteorology at Arizona State University. He received a BS in Glaciology from ASU in 1990. Tim continues to build on his 25 years of back country skiing experience in the Sierra, Western US, Canada and Europe.

Mike Ferrari is the Director of Ski Patrol at Mount Rose Ski Area. Professional Ski Patrol for 13 years.
Dallas has served as the Avalanche Forecaster for Mt Rose Ski Tahoe since 2007 and as a professional patroller since 2006. He began his interest in avalanche science while working on a Master's of Science in Hydrology and Soil Physics at the University of Nevada. He enjoys applying his technical science background in the discipline of Snow Science. During the summers Dallas works as an Wilderness Ecologist for the USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service. When not at Mt Rose Dallas spends his days hiking the backcountry of Lake Tahoe, Eastern Sierra, and Western US.

Slide Snow School has the ability to draw from the numerous and varied local instructors. Our instructors have experience with the DOT, ATF, Far West, PSPA, Forest Service, and all aspects of avalanche control and forecasting. Each instructor brings their individual expertise to the classroom allowing us to customize and tailor instruction to the students needs. AIARE provides a unified approach that builds logically on itself from a 1 hour avalanche awareness presentation to a 78 hour Level 3 advanced course.
